The kind of place you don't want to leave
Margarita Village is our most natural and laid-back accommodation option. Five wooden bungalows built from local materials, set among palm trees in a peaceful tropical garden. Each one has wooden furniture, a private garden and an outdoor shower — the kind of setup that slows everything down in the best possible way. Some afternoons you'll hear music coming up the path before you see anything — that's the tuk tuk bakery guy, doing his rounds with bread, buns and pastries, his speaker announcing him across the whole camp. He turns up at the kite centre, sometimes at the bungalows too. It's one of those things you don't expect and then you miss when you leave.
They can sleep from 1 to 4 people, which makes them a great option whether you're travelling solo, as a couple or with friends. The village atmosphere is real — you're in the middle of local Sri Lankan life, not a resort bubble.
